Fire Truck Restoration:
The museum has formed a partnership with
the Town of Florence, Arizona Department of Corrections, and Central
Arizona Central College, to restore the 1953 Ford fire truck owned by
the Town of Florence Fire Department. It is being restored at the state
prison in Florence. Under the supervision of the instructors of a CAC
auto body training class, the truck will be returned to near its
original condition both mechanically and body work. The target for
completion is by the Christmas Parade in Florence this year.
The museum also has two other Florence Fire
Trucks in its collection - a 1937 Mack fire truck that served the town
and a rare 1942 Ford fire truck that protected the prisoner of war camp
in what is now Florence Gardens. The plan is to restore both of these as
well for exhibit purposes.
Ongoing fund raising is in progress to help
pay for the restoration and also to provide a facility for their storage
